Analysis of Extended Producer Responsibility in LAC, as a tool to contribute to SDG 12
At the end of 2019, Sustentar was selected in the call launched by the Center for the Sustainable Development Goals for Latin America and the Caribbean (CODS) of the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, to prepare a document with public policy recommendations regarding the promotion of responsible consumption and production. Within this framework, an investigation on the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) initiatives in different countries of the region -Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico, was carried out. The different EPR regulations and their contributions to SDG 12 were analysed, especially the targets (12.2, 12.4, 12.5), the impact they had, the challenges and opportunities generated, and the experiences of success and failure in the analysed.
